Default Guild Recrution Chat Tab

We have all seen the constant spam of abbreviations that few understand and even fewer care about. Wouldn't it be nice to have to ability to toggle off all guild recruiting spam? They should add a new chat feature (like team tab and guild tab) for guild recruiting and give people the ability to report spammers who are not using the recruitment tab.

Also there should be a friends list tutorial in the introduction tutorials, so newbies to guild wars will know how to mute people who are harassing them with "So i see you don't have a guild"

Good and bad idea sort of.
Turning off for guilds that spam every few secs would be gd but heres the flaw , a lot of new players may have recruit chat turned off and would miss any recruiting going - ive often seen new players who in a guild never realised theres an alliance chat as its turned off for them.
Some may argue its easier when you seen guild spamming just to add that person to ignore list an remove when you leave - stops you seeing the spamming.
I wonder if the guilds that recruit spam actually realise instead of getting players attention they are getting players ignoring them - what good guild needs to spam recruiting ( all guilds say they are gd regardless ) ? It makes the guild look rather amateur and noobish ( sorry but has to be said so no offence folks ) .

1 pet hate is tho - the idiots who go into an emptyish dist - ive seen it with just myself and the recruiter - they enter and spam like mad , why spam in an empty dist , cant they see no players or very few players who are all in a guild or even same guild.. thats life i suppose lol

ps - in party window theres a part for guild recruiting so anet wont give a recruiting tab

Should be turned on by default, and turned off manually later. It's more of an eyesore than anything. There are better ways to recruit, like actually playing the game, making friends, stuff like that. The majority of guild wars community has become lazy though.

Use the Party Search feature we have now. If you see someone Spamming for guild recruitment(in all chat or whatever), use the report feature he have now.

/notsigned, it already exists

If whats being said in Local Chat annoys you so much, then turn it off. Simple fix. Local Chat is designed for ALL CHAT. Useless and trivial banter, guild recruiting, and all other manner of annoyance. No one is making you have it on.

That sounds like a great idea. Like the above person said, it is for general chat. And I hate having my general chat interrupted by incessant guild spam and I certainly shouldn't feel the need to turn off local chat just because someone wants to be annoying with guild ads (Its only really a problem when someone spams the message every five seconds, as advertisers tend to do.) However; if trade channel is any indication, many people wouldn't use the new guild chat tab anyways. So, it's a nice idea. but pointless.

eh, using all chat is good enough for guild recruitment. Most people recruit in Kamadan or LA, where most chat is Trade-channel. It easily gets noticed as is.

The /report for spam is designated now for people that spam in team-chat, emotes, and whisper chat. There's a spam-guard on all-chat, trade-chat, guild-chat, and alliance-chat that prevents any type of message spam (including guild recruite messages).
Unless of course you're idea of spamming is vastly different from the definition.

qft

This is the way to handle it there really isn't any point in saying ignore report or just turn of general chat.

The spamming has been happening for several years now and no matter how many are reported it still continues.
Increase the Tabs to handle all reasonable activities and turn them on by default

Once a player learns what tabs exist they can turn off those they want to.
This might reduce the spam in general chat.
People who want to push something will always invade general chat because they want to make sure they are reaching everyone.

Spend an hour trying to sell something and you become convinced the reason your not getting replies is because your filtered out.
Which is why people have been asking for decent trade functions "yeah I know it will never happen".

Pity there isn't an auto ban feature, spam certain words more than 50 times in an hour or whatever and your removed from the game for 24 hours.
Probably couldn't be done though.

Personal chat filter even better I could set it to blank out all messages with wts wtb etc

it makes me laughthat you are complaining about guild recruitment in allchat considering all the other childish BS that you see in it. i would rather see guild recruitment than reading about some ignorant kid thats been banned before and is proud of it, or "mr whoever's penile issues". and yes i do put morons on ignorelist, but sadly there are more morons than there is space on ignore

There is something like AC? Lol? Wow, never saw that.. Luckely it's off 24/7.. Alliance people are like PUGs, retards.. And with our AC policy just saying something is against the rules..

Nah, \unsigned, it's dumb idea, let them spam if they want, I ignore them, so does anyone else, and it's their given right to spam guild recruitment info.. It isn't against the rules or anything..

And about the abbreviations? It's an MMO, dude abbreviations will always be there and will always be used.. And if you're recruiting for a guild, you can't spell everything in full, or your window will be filled by the time you reach your third word...

a guild recruiting channel would be nice, you could see people recruiting and much like trade chat you could just turn it off if you didn't want to see it. people could still spam in general chat i guess but a lot would probably use the recruitment channel and if you're actually looking for a guild it would be nice to have.

There isn't one in the party window in town? There should be. Doesn't mean that the chat box needs a tab for it though.

I'm not complaining about the spam, actually it makes me laugh sometimes seeing how desperate every guild seems to be to get numbers. It's just for something that is so commonly spammed there should be a way to deactivate it. Maybe a customizable chat filter would be better where you could put in strings of text like "looking for active members" or "Recruiting" and it would just filter out the line with another line of text like

I think this idea would be better suited as to have in-game recruitment advertiser NPCs. The GL/Officers pay a fee, and their AD is posted for so many days. If players want to view all current guild recruitment ADs, they speak to the NPC. GL/Officers may take down ADs at any time. Also, new ADs could be displayed similarly like teams that win in HA. That way everyone is notified instantly. To avoid abusing that feature, guilds can only put up/remove an AD every hour.

For the most-part.. /Signed

Additional Details/Break-Down:

Guild Lord/Officers may put up/remove one AD every hour.
ADs must stay up for one hour before removal.
Guilds may choose to pay higher amounts to have their ADs at the top of the list.
New ADs posted will be announced server wide, similar to winning HA teams.

No way in hell would i say this is a good idea. In PvE, the people that try recruiting work like hell to get members. They do something they hate to do which is hit enter>down arrow>enter and be bored, they sit in one outpost and then go to another after 10+mins, and then they get a bunch of people to join and 3/4 leave in the first 10 minutes.

The only places you see recruiting spam is in areas like jade quarry and maybe some other outpost. I have not seen a recruitment spam in so long in any outpost in pvp areas that it is making me wonder if this game is almost on its last leg. Recruiting means the game is going somewhat good as far as activity goes. If i never saw any recruiting it would mean the game is dead..

/notsigned for recruiting chat filter

is recrution a word?

Shitty idea. If they typo it's stuck there for an hour before it can be fixed.

Pointless.

Yeah, because people want to see shitloads of pop-up guild ads in chat that are probably even more annoying than ads as they are now.

1) Then use proper grammar and check yourself.

2) It would allow more dedicated guilds to be posted above all others. Instead of being miles under the scroll-bar.

3) It was a suggestion, and not necessary; I'll even agree that it'd get annoying.
